SUPERNOVA 2005dz IN UGC 12717
     Independent discoveries of an apparent supernova in
UGC 12717 have been reported from unfiltered CCD images taken
by T. Puckett and A. Pelloni (cf. IAUC 8580) and by N.
Ponticello, M. Baek, J. Burket, and W. Li (LOSS/KAIT; cf. IAUC
8594).  Puckett reports the following position for 2005dz:  R.A.
= 23h38m38s.33, Decl. = +5o26'17".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is
24" east and 16" north of the center of UGC 12717.  Li provides
position end figures 38s.28, 17".1 for 2005dz.  Available
approximate magnitudes for 2005dz:  July 27 UT, [19.8 (Puckett);
29, [19.8 (Puckett); Sept. 2.30, [19.0 (KAIT); 10.21, 18 (Puckett);
11.31, 18.1 (KAIT).
