Reddy report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 14.3) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken with the Puckett Observatory 0.60-m automated supernova patrol telescope in Ellijay, GA, on Jan. 12.45 UT. The object was confirmed (also at mag 14.3) by Puckett on Jan. 13.52 remotely with a 0.35-m reflector at Portal, AZ. The new object is located at R.A. = 13h53m28s.65, Decl. = +5o12'22".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 31".1 east and 6".3 south of the center of NGC 5338. Nothing was present on images taken by Puckett on 2004 Jan. 23 (limiting mag 19.8). Further to IAUC 8657, W. Li reports the independent LOSS discovery of 2006E at mag 14.3 on an unfiltered KAIT image taken on Jan. 13.58; he provides position end figures 28s.52, 22".2 (offset 29".4 east, 6".1 south), and adds that nothing was visible at this location on a KAIT exposure taken on 2005 June 26.25 (limiting mag 19.0).
