Martin, Perth Observatory, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.0) on red CCD images taken on Mar. 24.651 and 25.618 UT with the 0.61-m Perth Lowell Automated Telescope in the course of the Perth Automated Supernova Search. The new object is located at R.A. = 7h21m16s.50 +/- 0s.01, Decl. = -68o59'57".3 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 49" west and 43" north of the center of the galaxy NGC 2397. Nothing was visible at this location in images taken on Mar. 16.587 (limiting red magnitude 18.5).
