Chornock, J. Burket, and W. Li report the LOSS discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.2) on unfiltered KAIT images taken on May 3.31 and 4.31 UT. SN 2006by is located at R.A. = 13h26m09s.12, Decl. = +35o55'58".0 (equinox 2000.0), which is 0".1 east and 5".7 south of the center of NGC 5149. A KAIT image taken on Feb. 9.50 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.0).
