Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the discovery by K. Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan) of an apparent supernova (mag 16.1) on numerous unfiltered CCD frames taken around Sept. 3.77 UT using 0.60-m f/5.7 reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 0h42m45s.82 +/- 0s.02, Decl. = -23o33'30".4 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 0".3 east and 11".0 north of the center of NGC 232. Itagaki reports finding 2006et at mag 17.0 on an earlier image taken on Aug. 30.68. Nothing was visible at this location on Itagaki's survey frames taken on Aug. 24.69 (limiting mag 18.5), on earlier frames with limiting mag 19, and on the Digitized Sky Survey.
