Lin, C.-S. Lin, and C.-Y. Shih report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 15.9) on unfiltered CCD images taken in the course of the Taiwan Supernova Survey on May 3.54 UT with the 1-m Lulin Observatory telescope. The new object was confirmed at mag 15.7 on May 8.81 and is located at R.A. = 9h59m55s.76, Decl. = -29o37'03".3 (equinox 2000.0), which is 1".1 east and 0".3 south of the center of IC 2531. Nothing was visible at this location on a Digitized Sky Survey image (limiting mag about 21.0). The discoverers have posted images of the new object at the following World Wide Web URL: http://web.cc.ncu.edu.tw/~952209002/IC2531.htm NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
