Madison and W. Li report the discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered KAIT images taken on Aug. 15.51 (at mag 13.8) and 16.47 UT (mag 13.5). The new object is located at R.A. = 2h43m27s.98, Decl. = +37o20'44".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 24".8 west and 15".8 north of the nucleus of NGC 1058. A KAIT image taken on Aug. 10.44 showed nothing at this location (limiting mag 18.9).
