Electronic Telegram No. 1114 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2007oc IN NGC 7418A G. Pignata, J. Maza, M. Hamuy, R. Antezana, and L. Gonzalez, Universidad de Chile; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on the behalf of the Chilean Automatic Supernova Search program, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 13.6) on a luminance-filter image taken on Nov. 3.06 UT with the 0.41-m Panchromatic Robotic Optical Monitoring and Polarimetry Telescope 2 located at Cerro Tololo. The new object is located at R.A. = 22h56m41s.77 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -36o46'22".3 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000), which is about 6".1 east and 1".3 south of center of the galaxy NGC 7418A. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images from Oct. 8.10 (limiting mag 17.5). SN 2007oc is also present at mag approximately 13.3 in an image taken on Oct. 23.09. NGC 7418A was also the host galaxy of SN 1983M (the host galaxy identified there as ESO 406-G27).
