Newton, Portal, AZ, U.S.A; and T. Puckett, Ellijay, GA, U.S.A., report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.3) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.7) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, on Feb. 24.52 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.2 on co-added images (limiting mag 19.1) taken by T. Orff on Feb. 25.48 with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ. SN 2008an is located at R.A. = 17h38m28s.18, Decl. = +61o02'13".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4".9 east and 9".8 south of the center of UGC 10936. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2007 May 23 (limiting mag 19.0).
