Electronic Telegram No. 1316 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION M.S. 18, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2008bl IN UGC 9317 Grzegorz Duszanowicz, Akersberga, Sweden, reports the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.2) on unfiltered CCD exposures (limiting mag 17.8) taken on Mar. 25.995 UT with a 0.32-m f/3.1 reflector (+ Starlight Xpress MX716 camera). The new object, which was confirmed at mag 16.1 on images taken on Mar. 26.891 and 26.895, is located at R.A. = 14h30m11s.82, Decl. = +27 32'05".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 8" east and 12" north of the center of the galaxy UGC 9317. Nothing is visible at this location on unfiltered CCD images taken with the same equipment on Jan. 20.158 (limiting mag 17.8) and Feb. 15.141 (limiting mag 18.4). The USNO-A2.0 catalogue was used for comparison-star magnitudes. The discovery image for 2008bl is posted at http://moonbase.be/html/gallery/sncand/PGC51819-S001-STACK-3.jpg, and a deeper image from Mar. 26.895 is available at the following website URL: http://moonbase.be/html/gallery/sncand/PGC51819-S001-STACK-4.jpg.
