IAUC 7373), of an apparent supernova (mag about 15.8) on two unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag about 18.0) taken with a 25-cm Ritchey-Chretien Cassegrain "GRAS15" remote-controlled telescope of the GRAS System at Moorook, Australia, on Dec. 15.78 UT. The new object -- which was confirmed at mag about 16.4 via five images (limiting magnitude about 19.0) taken on Dec. 16.65 with a remote-controlled 36-cm Schmidt- Cassegrain telescope of the "SkyLive System" at Grove Creek, Australia -- is located at R.A. = 12h58m05s.70, Decl. = -43o20'03".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 24" west and 16" south of the nucleus of the apparent host galaxy (ESO 269-20). Nothing is visible at this position on Palomar Sky Survey infrared, red, and blue plates. The image of 2008ig from Dec. 16.65 has been posted at the following website URL: http://www.cortinastelle.it/cross/ESO269-020_20081216.jpg NOTE: These 'Central Bureau Electronic Telegrams' are sometimes superseded by text appearing later in the printed IAU Circulars.
