Antezana, L. Gonzalez, P. Gonzalez, P. Lopez, S. Silva, G. Folatelli, D. Iturra, R. Cartier, F. Forster, and S. Marchi, Universidad de Chile; B. Conuel, Wesleyan University; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 16.5 +/- 0.2) on an unfiltered image taken on Jan. 13.13 UT with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 5' telescope located at Cerro Tololo. The new object, which was confirmed at mag approximately 16.4 +/- 0.2 in an unfiltered image taken with the 'PROMPT 4' telescope on Jan. 14.06, is located at R.A. = 2h45m10s.40 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -4o42'49".4 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 6".8 east and 10".4 south of the center of the galaxy NGC 1080. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on 2008 Nov. 19.10 and Dec. 6.11 (limiting mag 18.0).
