IAUSUBS@CFA.HARVARD.EDU or FAX 617-495-7231 (subscriptions) CBAT@CFA.HARVARD.EDU (science) URL http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/iau/cbat.html SUPERNOVA 2009Q IN UGC 9982 Markku Nissinen, Kangaslampi, Varkaus, Finland, reports the discovery by Veli-Pekka Hentunen and himself of an apparent supernova (mag 17.2) on CCD images (limiting mag 19.5) obtained with a Meade 30.5-cm LX200/GPS/ UHTC/OTA f/10 reflector (+ SBIG ST-8-XME camera + Bessel-R filter) on Jan. 30.983 UT. The new object is located at R.A. = 15h40m12s.85, Decl. = +70o44'18".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 27" east and 9" south of the center of the galaxy UGC 9982 (= PGC 55753). Nothing is visible at this position on the Palomar Sky Survey (limiting red magnitude 20.8). A confirming image by A. Oksanen (Muurame, Finland, 40-cm reflector) on Jan. 31.029 yielded mag 17 and position end figures 13s.0, 18".3 for 2008Q. A 150-s confirming image of 2009Q taken by the discoverers on Jan. 31.647 yields mag 17.1 and position end figures 12s.88, 17".9.
