Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.1 +/- 0.3) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on June 23.755 UT at his Bronberg Observatory; a confirming image on June 24.718 yields mag 18.2 +/- 0.2 for 2009gl. The new object is located at R.A. = 13h34m43s.71, Decl. = +9o20'10".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 10" east and 2" south of the galaxy core of IC 900, lying in the eastern spiral arm of this Sbc-type galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position in the Digitized Sky Survey images (limiting red mag 20.5) or on Monard's own image from 2009 May 22.804 (limiting mag 19.0).
