Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.6) on CCD images (limiting mag 19.2) taken with a 0.40-m reflector in Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Oct. 9.32 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object was confirmed at mag 17.6 on eleven co-added images (limiting mag 19.5) taken by Sostero on Oct. 9.57 with a 0.35-m Skylive reflector in Trunkey, Australia. A second confirmation, showing 2009jp at mag 17.7, was made by Puckett with a 0.40-m reflector in Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on an image (limiting mag 19.1) taken on Oct. 10.14. SN 2009jp is located at R.A. = 23h17m42s.71, Decl. +13o57'24".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 1".5 west and 6".1 south of the center of the apparent host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on Sept. 10 (limiting mag 19.6).
