Djorgovski, A. Mahabal, M. J. Graham and R. Williams, California Institute of Technology; M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; E. C. Beshore and S. M. Larson, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona; and E. Christensen, Gemini Observatory, report the CRTS discovery of a supernova in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images: SN 2009 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2009jt Sep. 29.39 3 41 10.67 - 9 35 46.9 18.6 1".4 E, 1".5 S Further CSS magnitudes for 2009jt: Feb. 20.16 UT, [20.4; Sept. 22.42, 18.7. A noisy spectrogram (range 380-900 nm) of 2009jt was obtained on Oct. 12.30 with the SMARTs 1.5-m telescope. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows this to be most similar to the type-Ia supernova 1995D at 14 days past maximum light.
