Ciabattari, S. Donati, and E. Mazzoni, Borgo a Mozzano, Italy, report their discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 16.1) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting magnitude 17.8) obtained using a 0.5-m reflector on July 1.10 UT, with confirming images from July 2.02-2.04 (limiting magnitude 18.3) showing 2010ex at mag 15.8. The new object is located at R.A. = 23h00m10s.90, Decl. = +26d05'57".2 (equinox 2000.0; astrometry with respect to UCAC2-catalogue stars), which is 7" north of the center of the galaxy PGC 70222. Nothing is present at this position on their images from Aug.-Nov. 2008 (limiting mag 19.5) or on a Palomar Sky Survey (POSS) F plate from 1991 Oct. 3 (limiting mag 20.3) and a POSS J plate from 1992 Aug. 28 (limiting magnitude 20.3).
