Newton and T. Puckett report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 13.5) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 19.3) taken with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Nov. 3.52 UT in the course of the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was confirmed at mag 12.9 on multiple images (limiting mag 19.1) taken by Puckett on Nov. 4.50 with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, is located at R.A. = 9h42m53s.33, Decl. = +9o29'41".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 2".4 east and 7".7 north of the center of UGC 5189A. Nothing is visible at this position on images taken by Puckett on 2009 Sept. 11 (limiting mag 19.6). Puckett has posted a finding chart at website URL http://www.possdata.com/UGC5189A.jpg.
