Cable Address: SATELLITES, NEWYORK Western Union: RAPID SATELLITE CAMBMASS PERIODIC COMET KOPFF (1970c) Dr. Elizabeth Roemer, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, reports that this comet has been reobserved, as follows: 1970 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. Mag. Feb. 7.475 13 37.5 - 4 23 19.6 13.406 13 40.4 - 4 22 19.5 The comet is essentially stellar in appearance and close to the prediction by G. Sitarski on IAUC 2183. The Feb. 7 observation was made using the 154-cm reflector at the Catalina station; Robert Elliot assisted. The Feb. 13 observation was made using the Steward Observatory's 229-cm reflector at Kitt Peak. COMET BENNETT (1969i) The following precise positions have been reported: 1970 UT R.A. (1950) Decl. Bateman (Berario, Johannesburg). Nikon F camera, 400 mm f/6.3 lens. Measured by Bateman at the Republic Observatory. Z. M. Pereyra and J. J. Rodriguez (Cordoba Observatory for the CNEGH). 33-cm astrograph. Measurer: Miss B. Oviedo. The isophote of magnitude 15.5 per square minute has a mean diameter of 20', i.e. 1.3 x 10**6 km, on plates taken at Bosque Alegre between Jan. 30 and Feb. 1. Yellow-red plates, minus blue filter, showed only a tenuous parabolic envelope around the nucleus, but no tail. In early February the blue tail was about 2o long. 1970 February 17 (2213) Brian G.
