PERIODIC COMET SCHWASSMANN-WACHMANN 1
Nihondaira Obs. Circ. No. 557 reports that, according to
observations by M. Koishikawa and others at Sendai, this comet had a
total magnitude of about 12 during Sept. 21-23. That the comet has
recently been active is confirmed by E. Roemer, Lunar and Planetary
Laboratory; and by R. E. McCrosky and C. Y. Shao, Harvard College
Observatory. The current ephemeris is on IAUC 2652.
PERIODIC COMET FORBES (1974a)
Dr. R. L. Waterfield, Woolston Observatory, communicates the
following precise position, measured by him from a plate taken by
G. H. Rutter. There was an extremely faint and diffuse, broad
fan-tail 6' long in p.a. 260o.
