Degewij, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, provides the following photoelectric observations, made with the 154-cm reflector: Nov. 16.37 UT, V = 16.37, B-V = +0.78, U-B = +0.19; 16.41, 16.05, +0.68, +0.03; 17.28, 16.16, +0.65, +0.22; 17.42, 16.04, +0.71, +0.10. SMC X-2 AND SMC X-3 D. Allen, Anglo-Australian Observatory, reports that a systematic spectroscopic search has revealed the same optical candidates suggested by Sanduleak and Philip (IAUC 3127, 3134). Both stars are of magnitude ~ 15, have colors B-V ~ -0.3 and U-B ~ -1.0, are of spectral type late O and have radial velocities indicating SMC membership; both have H-alpha emission of ~ 5 A equivalent width; H-beta is filled in, and the higher Balmer lines are in absorption. The positions (equinox 1950.0) of the candidates are: SMC X-2, R.A. = 0h52m53s.3, Decl. = -73o57'22"; SMC X-3, R.A. = 0h50m19s.9, Decl. = -73o42'26". ESO 113-IG 45 Corrigendum. On IAUC 3134, the redshift z should have been given as 0.045, not 0.845. 1977 November 28 (3143) Brian G. Marsden
