Schuster, European Southern Observatory, reports the recovery of this comet as follows: 1980 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1 Nov. 12.06181 23 05.03 -46 27.5 18-19 The object is essentially stellar but shows some diffuseness. The indicated correction to the prediction by S. W. Milbourn (B.A.A. Hdbk. 1980; MPC 5326) is Delta-T = -1.37 day. A corrected ephemeris is: 1980/81 ET R. A. (1950) Decl. V. Holm, R. J. Panek and F. H. Schiffer III, Computer Sciences Corporation and Goddard Space Flight Center, write: "IUE spectra show that the novalike variable UX UMa is a spectacular ultraviolet spectrum variable. Whereas no line emission was visible in 1980 Feb., intense line emission of C IV, Si IV and N V appears on Oct. 15, with a C IV equivalent width of 4.0 nm. The visual magnitude was unchanged within 0.3 mag. Since related objects do not show strong line emission, this is likely a transient phase." 1980 November 13 (3538) Brian G. Marsden
