COMET BRADFIELD (1980t)
     Several observers have reported that this comet underwent an
outburst yesterday.  Visual estimates: Jan. 11.95 UT, m1 = 5.5,
tail 4o in p.a. 33o (C. S. Morris, Harvard, MA, 20 x 80 bin.);
12.01, 5.6, 3o.2 in 48o (C. Sherrod, North Little Rock, AR, 10 x 50);
12.96, 5.6, 3o.5 in 33o (D. W. E. Green, Harvard, MA, 20 x 80);
13.01, 5.3, 3o.5 in 45o (Sherrod); 13.74, 4.8, - (P. Burst?  Utrecht?
12 x 40 bin.); 13.95, 4.6, 30 in 380 (Green, Cambridge, MA); 13.96,
4.4, 3o in 35o (Morris).

     D. A. Pickup, Royal Observatory, Edinburgh, communicates the
following prediscovery position, identified and measured by K. S.
Russell at his suggestion on an exposure by J. Barrow and R. J.
Smyth with the l.2-m U.K. Schmidt telescope at Coonabarabran:

     The indicated correction to the ephemeris on MPC 5526 (elements
on MPC 4659) is Delta-T ~ +0.02 to +0.03 day.  Further details and
an improved orbit will be published on the Feb. 1 MPCs.
