GK PERSEI
     J. Nattei, American Association of Variable Star Observers, informs
us that this nova has undergone another outburst (cf. IAUC
2740, 3240), as indicated by the following visual magnitude estimates:
Feb. 7.05 UT, 13.2 (E. Mayer, Barberton, OH); 10.05, 13.1
(J. Bortle, Stormville, NY); 13.07, 12.6 (Bortle); 14.06, 12.6
(Mayer); 16.12, 12.1 (Mayer); 16.19, 12.1 (J. Morgan, Prescott, AZ).
C.-C. Wu and A. V. Hoim, Computer Sciences Corporation; and J.
C. Raymond and L. W. Hartmann, Center for Astrophysics, report that
GK Per was observed on Feb. 14.02 UT with the IUE ultraviolet spectrographs.
The spectra showed strong emission lines of N V 124.0
nm, C IV 155.0 nm, He II 164.0 nm and Mg II 280.0 nm, and weaker
emission of Si IV 140.0 nm. The far ultraviolet continuum was not
particularly strong. This latest set of spectra contrasts with
those obtained when GK Per was in quiescent state, as the latter
spectra contain no emission lines.

SATELLITES OF SATURN
     P. Lamy, Laboratoire d'Astronomie Spatiale, Marseilles, telexes
that further examination of plates taken at the Haute Provence
Observatory (cf. IAUC 3463, 3491) reveals a new satellite, 1980 S 29,
of mag ~ 14.5 to 15. On 1980 Mar. 16.126 UT, 1980 S 29 was located
19".75 east of Saturn. It may correspond to one or more of 1980 S 7,
1980 S 20, 1980 S 23, 1980 S 26 or 1980 S 27. In addition, 1980 S 3
was measured at a position 22".7 west of Saturn on Mar. 16.9156.

SUPERNOVA IN NGC 6946
     S. P. Tokarz and C.-Y. Shao, Center for Astrophysics, communicate
that a Damon patrol plate taken at Harvard Observatory's
Agassiz Station on 1980 Nov. 1.01 UT shows the supernova at mpg ~
11.4, indicating that it was near peak brightness of its outburst.

COMET PANTHER (1980u)
Total visual magnitude estimates: Jan. 23.78 UT, 9.3 (J.-C.
Merlin, Le Creusot, France, O.26-m refl.); Feb. 3.48, 9.1 (P. Maley,
Houston, TX, 0.13-m refr.); 8.47, 9.0 (Maley, 0.15-m refr.); 13.42,
8.4 (Bortle, 20 x 80 bin; tail 18' long in p.a. 35o, 0.32-m refl.).
