Circular No. 3724 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-864-5758 SUPERNOVA IN NGC 521 B. Szeidl, Konkoly Observatory, telexes that M. Lovas has discovered a supernova 22" west and 16" south of the center (R.A. = 1h22.0m, Decl. = +1o28', equinox 1950.0) of NGC 521. On Aug. 19, the photographic magnitude was 15.0. NOVA AQUILAE 1982 D. Aitken, P. F. Roche and B. Whitmore, University College, London, note that the fluxes given on IAUC 3717 should be in Jy, not in mJy. They also report confirmatory observations of the silicate feature on July 27. E. P. Belserene, Maria Mitchell Observatory, writes that B. S. Meyer has measured the following photographic magnitudes for this nova: May 18.23 UT, 11.6; June 21.25, 12.2; 25.18, 12.1; July 23.25, 12.3; 27.3, 12.9; 30.23, 12.5; Aug. 16.25, 12.9. COMET AUSTIN (1982g) Recent observations (the latest by E. Everhart, University of Denver, on Sept. 1) indicate almost no change in the ephemeris published on MPC 7159; the elements are the same as those on IAUC 3721 for the following extended ephemeris: 1982 ET R.A.
