PERIODIC COMET CROMMELIN (1983n)
The following precise position by E. Everhart, Chamberlin
Observatory field station, is the only one since early September
that has been reported of the comet selected for the International
Halley Watch's 'dry run' during 1984 Mar. 25-31:

The following new elements have been derived by the undersigned
from observations in 1956 and 1983. The comet might attain
total mag m1 = 7-8 for a short while around perihelion passage:
T = 1984 Feb. 20.1679 ET Epoch = 1984 Mar. 1.0 ET
Peri. = 195.8527 e = 0.919195
Node = 250.1926 1950.0 a = 9.090085 AU
Incl. = 29.1030 n = 0.0359627
q = 0.734522 AU P = 27.406 years
