Circular No. 4120 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Postal Address: Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Cambridge, MA 02138, U.S.A. TWX 710-320-6842 ASTROGRAM CAM Telephone 617-495-7244/7440/7444 DRACONID METEORS 1985 S. Nakano, Tokyo, communicates the following observations of Draconids on Oct. 8 in Japan. Y. Yabu (Omi-Hachiman, Shiga-Ken) gave hourly rates of 200 at 9h40m UT, 100 at 10h00m and 10 at 11h00m. K. Watanabe and K. Nose (Sapporo Science Center) observed 83 meteors (mainly of mag 4-5) between 10h40m and 11h40m, deduced a ZHR of 200 and remarked that maximum occurred before 10h00m. Y. Takeuchi (Tochigi-Ken) observed 39 meteors in 14 min around 10h00m. SUPERNOVA 1985O IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY A. V. Filippenko, University of California at Berkeley, reports that spectrograms obtained on Oct. 8 with the Lick 3-m telescope (range 320-720 nm, resolution 1 nm) show supernova 1985O (IAUC 4108) to be a type II object. The H-alpha emission line is very strong and broad, as is often the case in type II supernovae more than a few weeks past maximum brightness. U GEMINORUM This dwarf nova is undergoing a bright outburst, as indicated by the following visual magnitude estimates, provided by J. A. Mattei, AAVSO: Oct. 5.49 UT, 11.2 (L. Cook, Concord, CA); 5.52, 10.8 (Cook); 6.35, 8.8 (J. Griese, Stamford, CT); 7.31, 8.8 (C. Scovil, Stamford, CT); 7.4, 9.3 (G. Dyck, N. Dartmouth, MA). 1985 PA Continuation to the ephemeris on IAUC 4099 from the elements on MPC 10 034: 1985 ET R.A. (1950.0) Decl. p r Mag.
