     G. Emerson, Boulder, CO, reports that a photograph taken with
his 0.30-m f/1.8 Schmidt telescope on Dec. 30.08 UT shows a dust
tail and a gas tail, each > 2 deg long, separating 0.5 deg from the head.

     Further total visual magnitude estimates: Dec. 22.02 UT, 4.8
(J. E. Bortle, Stormville, NY, 10x50 binoculars); 24.94, 4.5 (D. W.
E. Green, Lindenhurst, NY, 20x80 binoculars); 26.00, 4.7 (Bortle);

(Bortle); 28.99, 4.7 (Bortle); 29.95, 4.3 (Green).

COMET HARTLEY-GOOD (1985l)
     Bortle also reports his total visual magnitude estimates of
this comet with 20x80 binoculars:  Dec. 19.44 UT, 7.8; 20.45, 7.9.
