Jewitt report their recovery of this comet with the 2.1-m reflector (+ CCD) at Kitt Peak as shown below. The object did not appear extended through a 9" diaphragm and a broadband Mould R filter. The correction to the elements on MPC 11501 is Delta-T about -0.06 day. 1987 UT R.A. L. Chupp, University of New Hampshire (UNH), on behalf of the Solar Maximum Mission Gamma-Ray Spectrometer (GRS) experiment team at the UNH, the Max Planck Institute, and the Naval Research Laboratory, writes: "No significant flux of gamma-rays (with energies > 100 keV to about 100 MeV) above background fluctuations have been observed from SN 1987A since core collapse on Feb. 23.316, through Apr. 9. W. T. Vestrand, A. Ghosh, and E. Chupp have established an upper limit flux of about 0.3 photons/cm**2/s for a burst in the energy band 4.1-6.4 MeV during a 10-s interval encompassing the neutrino burst (IAUC 4338, 4340). No evidence was seen for a gamma-ray burst which could be associated with shock breakout up to 1500 s after core collapse. S. Matz, M. Leising, and G. Share (NRL) have summed spectral data, obtained during the first 24 days following the event, to obtain a 3-sigma upper limit of about 2 x 10E-3 gamma/cm**2/s for the intensity of the 812-keV line from Ni-56, with a similar long- term upper limit for the 847-keV line from Co-56 decay. Quick-look data in all gamma-ray channels on the GRS are monitored daily at UNH to detect any significant increase in flux above background. This monitoring activity will continue indefinitely."
