Evans, Hazelbrook, N.S.W., has discovered a supernova in NGC 7606 while visiting the Siding Spring Observatory. Visual magnitude estimates: Dec. 14.45 UT, 13.8 (Evans); 14.45, 13.8 (T. Cragg); 14.50, 14.0 (McNaught). Positions from the telescope encoders have been measured as follows: R.A. = 23h16m28s.0, Decl. = -8 45'07" (equinox 1950.0), offset from nucleus 16".3 west, 27".0 north (S. Lee, Anglo-Australian Telescope); end figures 28s.1, 00", 17", 29" (G. Mackie, 2.3-m Australian National University telescope). Supernova 1965M appeared in this same galaxy (IAUC 1934). V482 CYGNI G. M. Hurst, Basingstoke, England, reports a fading of the R RCrB-type star V482 Cyg (R.A. = 19h57m.8, Decl. = +33 50', equinox 1950.0). Visual magnitude estimates: Oct. 29.93 UT, 10.9; Nov. 10.84, 11.2; 12.82, 11.3; 14.79, 11.3; 19.84, 11.5; 28.85, 11.6: Dec. 9.82, 11.8; 10.78, 12.0; 13.78, 12.5. The last fading was in 1976 (cf. IAUC 2961). NOVA VULPECULAE 1987 Y. Andrillat, Laboratoire d'Astronomie, Montpellier, telexes: "Spectrograms (range 365-502 nm, dispersion 8 nm/mm) obtained on Dec. 10.79, 10.80 and 10.81 UT at Haute Provence are characterized by the presence of H (H beta-H15), Fe II (multiplets 27, 28, 37, 38, 42), Ti II (13, 14, 19, 31, 34, 41), N II (5), Cr II (44) and Ca II (H, K). Weaker lines of He I 447.1 nm and Mg II 448.1 nm are also present. The interstellar Ca lines are strong. All the emissions are flanked by two blueshifted absorptions with mean radial velocity -1240 km/s (strong) and -730 km/s (moderate and diffuse). The total width of the emission lines is about 1450 km/s." The following photoelectric photometry has been reported: Dec. 7.99 UT, V = 7.67, B-V = +0.59 (R. E. Zissell, Williston Observatory); 10.722, V = 7.47, B-V = +0.55, U-B = -1.02 (R. Monella, Covo, Italy); 12.719, V = 7.54, B-V = +0.61, U-B = -0.97 (Monella); 13.721, V = 7.57, B-V = +0.65, U-B = -0.95 (Monella). 1987 December 14 (4511) Brian G. Marsden
