Thompson, Mount Wilson and Las Campanas Observatories, reports that the LMC x-ray pulsar binary 0535-668 (A0538-66) has entered an active phase. Spectra taken with the du Pont 2.5-m telescope and 2D-frutti detector on Dec. 24.08 UT (at phase 0.950 assuming a period of 16.6515 days and the ephemeris of Hutchings et al. 1985, PASP 97, 418) show strong He II 469-mm emission. H, He I and C III/N III 463-464-nm emission is also present. Spectra taken on Dec. 23.26 UT (phase 0.901) show only weak H beta. V842 CENTAURI (NOVA CENTAURI 1986) Magnitude estimates by R. H. McNaught (using V sequence by P. Kilmartin): Feb. 22.79, 11.5 (updated from IAUC 4316); Mar. 19.80, 11.9; Apr. 21.6, 11.5; May 30.68, 11.1; June 28.43, 11.0; July 24.52, 10.9; Aug. 20.43, 11.0; Sept. 18.39, 10.5; Nov. 20.74, 11.1; Dec. 24.72, 11.2. He suggests from comparison with FH Ser that V842 Cen should now be a prominent radio source. COMET McNAUGHT (1987b1) Ephemeris from the orbital elements on MPC 12575: 1987/88 ET R.A. (1950) Decl.
