NOVA OPHIUCHI 1988
     F. J. Jablonski, S. D. Kirhakos, M. P. Diaz and R. Baptista,
Instituto de Pesquisas Espaciais, Sao Jose dos Campos, report that
spectra (resolution 0.1 nm) obtained with the GEC CCD at the
Laboratorio Nacional de Astrofisica during June 13-16 show Balmer
emission with asymmetric profiles and more symmetric He I and Fe II
emission. Values of the centroid velocity, FWHM, FWZI (all
heliocentric, in km/s and with uncertainties of 20 km/s), equivalent
width (in nm) and ratio of intensities of the blue to the red peak
are: H alpha, -91, 1166, 3247, 279.6, 0.55; H beta, -74, 1049, 3086,
49.4, 0.45; H gamma, -, -, 2005, 10.3, -; He I 587.6 nm, -215, 1073,
3086, 11.5, 1.14; Fe II 492.4 nm, -152, 1097, 2682, 2.6, about 1.1; Fe
II 516.9 nm, -197, 1016, 1278, 1.1, -; Fe II 501.8 nm + He I 501.6 nm
blend, -269, 1077, 3219, 4.4, -.  Interstellar absorption features due
to the Na I doublet are blueshifted by 15 +/- 6 km/s and have
equivalent widths of 0.108 and 0.094 nm. UBVRI photometry: June 9.172
UT, V = 10.37, U-B = -0.22, B-V = +0.89, V-R = +1.66, V-I = -0.61;
June 23.069, 10.65, -0.29, +0.97, +1.52, -0.57 (uncertainty 0.1 mag
in U-B, up to 0.04 mag otherwise).
