VY AQUARII
     This dwarf nova is again in outburst, as indicated by the
following visual magnitude estimates:  Aug. 30.5 UT, [15 (A. Pearce,
Woodlands, W. Australia); 30.82, [12.5 (J. Isles, Limassol, Cyprus);
31.573, 13.3 (Pearce); 31.595, 12.9 (Pearce); 31.619, 12.5 (Pearce);
31.76, 11.0 (Isles); 31.853, 11.0 (P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, W.
Germany); 31.92, 11.0 (M. Verdenet, Bourbon-Lancy, France); Sept.
1.04, 10.5 (G. Dyck, N. Dartmouth, MA); 1.05, 10.4 (W. Morrison,
Cavan, ON); 1.569, 10.2 (Pearce).  J. Mattei, AAVSO, notes that VY
Aqr is probably undergoing a supermaximum outburst and recommends
high-speed multi-wavelength photometry.


PERIODIC COMET TEMPEL 2 (1987g)
     D. K. Lynch and R. W. Russell, Space Science Laboratory,
The Aerospace Corporation, report the following infrared magnitudes
obtained at the Infrared Telescope Facility with a 7".8 aperture
and 60" chopper throw:  Aug. 18.29 UT, L = 10.51 +/- 0.11, M =
3-sigma upper limit of 8.08, N = 3.32 +/- 0.09; Aug. 19.30, L =
11.00 +/- 0.27, M = 8.04 +/- 0.15, N = 3.15 +/- 0.07.
     Total visual magnitude estimates (cf. IAUC 4628):  July 16.11
