Wamsteker, ESA IUE Observatory, communicate: "An observation of NGC 4151 on Nov. 29 with the IUE SWP camera (range 120-195 nm) in its low resolution mode (900 km/s) showed this object to be back to a bright state in the far ultraviolet. The continuum intensity at 145.5 nm is 6.2 +/- 0.2 mJy, while the C IV 155.0-nm emission-line intensity and fwzi are 25.0 x 10**-12 erg cm-2 s-1 A-1 and 31 000 km/s, respectively. Both the continuum and line intensities are comparable to their values on 1979 Jan. 21 and are intermediate between those on 1979 May 3 and 19, when NGC 4151 was at the onset of its largest outburst ever recorded with IUE (Ulrich et al. 1984, MNRAS 206, 221). It therefore looks as if this Seyfert I galaxy has at last recovered from its 8 years of semiquiescence characterized by a faint continuum and weak and narrow emission lines. The L1 159.4 and L2 151.8 features that Ulrich et al. (1985, Nature 313}, 745) tentatively identified with redshifted and blueshifted C IV 155.0 components excited by the two-sided radio-jet seem to have disappeared.''
