SUPERNOVA 1989B IN NGC 3627
     R. O. Evans, Hazelbrook, New South Wales, reports his discovery on
Jan. 30.5 UT of a supernova of mag 13 situated 15" west and 50" north of
the nucleus of NGC 3627 = M66. The presence of a new object of mag 13 was
confirmed by R. H. McNaught with the Uppsala Southern Schmidt at Siding
Spring on Jan. 30.76 UT through thin cloud. McNaught has measured the
object's position as R.A. = 11h17m37s.40, Decl. = +13d16'45".4 (equinox
1950.0), i.e., 15".4 west and 50".3 north of the galaxy's nucleus, or
96".5 east and 58".9 south of BD +13 2389 = SAO 99560.

1989 AC
Photometry by D. J. Tholen with the 0.61-m reflector at Mauna Kea
on Jan. 27.37 UT gave V = 14.6. The magnitude has been adjusted in the
following continuation to the ephemeris on IAUC 4715:
