SUPERNOVA 1989M IN NGC 4579
     R. H. McNaught, Siding Spring Observatory, reports the following
position measured from an Uppsala Southern Schmidt film taken
July 7.4 UT: R.A. = 12h35m09.23, Decl. = +12 05'55".6 (equinox
1950.0). R. Kirshner and E. Schlegel, Center for Astrophysics, report
that spectra of SN 1989M obtained by J. Peters at the F. L. Whipple
Observatory on July 7 confirm the classification as type
Ia near maximum light (cf. IAUC 4802).
