1989 PB
     E. Helin reports her discovery of a fast-moving asteroidal object
on exposures by B. Roman, C. Mikolajczak, A. Mejia and herself with the
0.46-m Schmidt. The following positions were measured by B. Roman:

     1989 UT             R.A. (1950) Decl.       Mag.
     Aug.  9.41771   23 34 35.06   - 9 01 32.5   15.0
          10.38316   23 35 39.94   - 8 20 52.1
          11.36528   23 36 49.88   - 7 34 12.2   15.0
          11.47396   23 36 55.39   - 7 28 39.7

     The following orbital elements seem moderately determinate and
indicate a close approach to the earth later this month. Further
observations are urgently desired.

     T = 1989 Oct. 27.132 ET          Peri. = 120.070
