Filippenko, University of California at Berkeley (UCB), reports that M. Dickinson, A. Dey, and D. Schlegel (UCB) obtained a CCD spectrum (range 400-800 nm, resolution 2 nm) of SN 1991B on Jan. 17 UT with the Shane 3-m reflector at Lick Observatory. Inspection of the uncalibrated data confirms that the object is of type Ia (cf. IAUC 5164), probably about 3-4 weeks past maximum. COMET ARAI (1991b) Prediscovery images of this comet (m1 about 10) were found on films exposed 1990 Dec. 23 by T. Ohtsuka and T. Kojima, Tatebayashi, Gunma, Japan.
