McNaught, University of Adelaide, reports his discovery of a fast-moving asteroidal object on a Feb. 18 U.K. Schmidt Telescope plate taken by P. McKenzie. Lund, on behalf of the WATCH/GRANAT team (Danish Space Research Institute, Lyngby; and Space Research Institute, Moscow), reports: "A peculiar cosmic gamma-ray burst, GRS 1406+598 (R.A. = 14h06m, Decl. = +59.8, equinox 1950.0, error radius about 1 deg; position determined with the WATCH RMC system and limited by the counting statistics), was recorded by WATCH on Feb. 19.49 UT. The burst consisted of two spikes of comparable intensity, each of duration 3 s, separated by an interval of 55 s during which the flux was very low, certainly < 5 percent of the peak flux. The total fluence in the burst was about 10E-6 erg cmE-2, the peak flux about 10E-7 erg cmE-2 sE-1. Optical and radio follow-up are encouraged." 1991 February 21 (5193) Daniel W. E. Green
