T. Carini, Science Programs, Computer Sciences Corporation; and J. C. Noble and H. R. Miller, Georgia State University, write: "We have observed the quasar 3C 446 in an unusually faint state during 1991 Sept. and Nov. Observations obtained at the Hall 1.07-m telescope (+ nitrogen-cooled CCD camera) of Lowell Observatory indicate the following magnitudes and colors: Sept. 18, V = 18.00 +/- 0.01; Nov. 3, V = 18.28 +/- 0.03, B-V = +0.56 +/- 0.07; Nov. 6, V = 18.50 +/- 0.04, B-V = +0.47 +/- 0.05; Nov. 7, V = 18.49 +/- 0.03, V-R = +0.59 +/- 0.07. Further observations of this source are encouraged." 1992 January 23 (5435) Daniel W. E. Green
