SUPERNOVA 1992ah IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
     J. Mueller reports her discovery of a supernova of red mag
about 17 on a plate taken June 27 UT by C. Brewer and J. D.
Mendenhall with the 1.2-m Oschin Telescope in the course of the
second Palomar Sky Survey.  SN 1992ah is located 25" west and 8"
south of the center of an anonymous galaxy located at R.A. =
17h35m26s.23, Decl. = +12 56'00".3 (equinox 1950.0).
     A. V. Filippenko, T. Matheson, M. L. Baker, and R. E. Green,
University of California at Berkeley; and J. A. Burrous, Lick
Observatory, report that uncalibrated CCD spectra (range 320-1000 nm)
obtained on July 7 UT with the Shane 3-m reflector at Lick
Observatory show that the object is of type Ia, not far from maximum
brightness.  The 615-nm absorption trough is very strong.
