COMET HELIN-LAWRENCE (1992q)
Eleanor F. Helin and Kenneth J. Lawrence have discovered a
comet on films taken with the 0.46-m Schmidt telescope at Palomar.
J. Alu and P. Rose assisted, and the latter measured the positions
below. The object is slightly diffuse, with a strong condensation
but no perceptible tail:

     1992 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. m1
     Aug. 29.43102 2 03 53.36 -12 23 45.1 15
          29.44826 2 03 52.60 -12 24 12.8
          30.36181 2 03 23.45 -12 51 50.1 15
          30.46319 2 03 19.71 -12 54 55.0

COMET BREWINGTON (1992p)
     S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, communicates the following precise
positions by T. Seki, Geisei:

     1992 UT R.A. (2000) Decl. m1
     Aug. 29.77941 7 17 14.72 +36 50 48.5 14
          29.80555 7 17 19.10 +36 50 45.1
          29.81042 7 17 19.89 +36 50 44.9

Visually the comet has m1 = 11.3 and a coma diameter of 3'.5. There
is a tail 5' long in p.a. 300 deg.

GRO J0422+32 = GRS 0417+335
     R. E. McCrosky, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics,
provides the following precise position, obtained with the 1.5-m
reflector + CCD at the Oak Ridge Observatory on Aug. 26: R.A. =
4 21 42.77, Decl. = +32 54 26.6 (FK5/J2000.0). The corresponding
FK4/B1950.0 position is R.A. = 4 18 29.92, Decl. = +32 47 23.6.
J. Mueller, Palomar Observatory, provides the following 1950.0 end
figures, from a plate taken with the Oschin Schmidt on Aug. 15:
29.56, 26.3. She notes that the object does not appear on the
Palomar Sky Survey prints (cf. IAUC 5594).

Visual magnitude estimates by P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, Germany:
Aug. 26.12 UT, 12.9; 27.09, 12.9; 28.10, 12.9.

1992 August 30 (5597) Brian G. Marsden
