     No observations seem to have been made of this interesting new
slow-moving object (cf. IAUC 5730) during the April dark run. The
object was detected in three CCD images obtained on May 17 by O.
Hainaut with the 1.54-m Danish reflector at the European Southern
Observatory, and the following measurements are by R. M. West:

     1993 UT             R.A. (2000) Decl.        V
     May  17.03238   12 23 59.43   - 2 38 27.7    23
          17.05998   12 23 59.36   - 2 38 27.3
          17.09281   12 23 59.27   - 2 38 26.7

     B. G. Marsden, Center for Astrophysics, remarks that these
observations constrain the geocentric distance to the range 39-48 AU,
and that observations at both the June and July dark runs will be
necessary for establishing the orbit with any reliability. He
provides the following improved circular elements:

 Epoch = 1993 May 13.0 TT         Arg.Peri. = 359.676
                                      Node  = 187.902   2000.0
