V518 PERSEI = GRO J0422+32
A. Iyudin and F. Haberl, Max-Planck-Institut fur
Extraterrestrische Physik, report: "V518 Per (= GRO J0422+32) was
again spotted in two mini-outbursts starting on Mar. 24 (3.1 mCrab,
significance > 5.1 sigma) and July 23 (3.3 mCrab, significance >
4.6 sigma). These mini-outbursts of V518 Per, together with that
reported on IAUC 6605, confirmed the outburst period of about 120
days, suspected on the basis of earlier x-ray and optical
measurements (op.cit.). The periodical nova outbursts confirm
similarities between V518 Per and the low-mass binary system Aql
X-1 in the timing sequence and in the decrease of the peak-flux
amplitude for the consecutive outbursts. The flux values during
mini-outbursts were derived under the assumption of a Crab-like
power-law spectrum. The data were analyzed from the publicly
available ASM quick-look results (op.cit.). Observations of V518
Per at other wavelengths are strongly encouraged at the times of
the suspected periodical outbursts."
