Beckmann and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (cf. IAUC 6627, 7126), report the discovery with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT) of an apparent supernova on unfiltered images taken on Sept. 18.3 (mag about 16.0) and 19.2 UT (mag about 15.8). The new object is located at R.A. = 1h07m23s.52, Decl. = +32o24'23".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".3 west and 8".7 north of the nucleus of NGC 382. A KAIT image of the same field taken on Sept. 11.3 already showed a hint of SN 2000dk, while an image taken on Sept. 6.3 showed nothing at this position (limiting mag about 19.0). NGC 382 is interacting with the galaxy NGC 383. COMET C/1999 T1 (MCNAUGHT-HARTLEY) Ephemeris from orbital elements on MPC 41158: 2000 TT R. A. (2000) Decl. Delta r Elong.
