Discovered by B. Kumar (Golden Ears Observatory Transient Survey - GEOTS) at Golden Ears Observatory, Maple Ridge, BC, Canada, in three 30-second unfiltered exposures using a 0.36-m f/2 Schmidt-Cassegrain + CCD, with magnitude 13.5 under limiting magnitude 18.0. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on 2021 Aug 20.4502 UT (limiting mag 18.0).

No new objects are visible down to a limiting magnitude ~16 on the unfiltered CCD images of the field obtained on 2021-09-03 05:46 UT with the 0.6m telescope of the Michigan State University Campus Observatory. The images are available at http://scan.sai.msu.ru/~kirx/img/TCPJ04023940+4250546/ A dwarf nova V1024 Per is locate 10" from the reported transient position. ---- Kirill Sokolovsky

GEOTS confirms bad astrometry solution due to transient being at the edge of the field. Transient is most likely an outburst of V1024 Per. Followup spectral observation of the transient by Claudio Balcon (Belluno A.O.- ISSP) also confirms the presence of a CV possibly at the location of V1024 Per. https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2021xrf
