Prediscovery images and follow up. We report prediscovery and follow-up of this nova suspect obtained remotely through the Virtual Telescope Project in Ceccano (Italy) by G. Masi and T. Bisque. On Feb. 05.16602 Messier 81 was imaged with the robotic 14" unit and unfiltered CCD images clearly show a source at the following end figures: 51.19s, 48.2" (J2000.0; reference stars from UCAC-4, residuals below 0.1", image scale 0.62"/pixel). The source was at mag. 18.6 (unfiltered, the camera peaking in the R part of the spectrum). On Feb. 06.90222, the same galaxy was imaged with the robotic 17" unit and unfiltered CCD images still show the source, with end figures 51.15s, 48.3" J2000.0; reference stars from UCAC-4, residuals below 0.1", image scale 0.63"/pixel). The source was at mag. 18.5 (unfiltered, the camera peaking in the R part of the spectrum).
