This transient was observed by Gianluca Masi and Francesca Nocentini, remotely using the 17" robotic unit part of the Virtual Telescope Project facility in Ceccano, Italy. Unfiltered images show the source at mag. 16.9 (R mags for the reference stars from UCAC-4). We also performed astrometry, getting the following end figures: 00.47s; 09.8" (J2000.0, mean residuals of 0.16" on both axes)

This possible supernova in IC 701 was detected with 100 x 0.5 min images using a luminance filter; however, analysis may be inaccurate due to proximity of nucleus. Astrometry: RA 11 31 00.57 Dec +20 28 09.3 Photometry: 15.09 +/- 0.10 L (V as ref) These data were collected remotely by Joseph Brimacombe, Cairns, Australia.
