A spectrum taken with the Copernico 1.82m telescope+AFOSC by the Asiago-Padova SN group shows that this is a type II supernova soon after explosion.

Astrometry: RA 16 11 29.55 Dec +57 22 51.87 (ref stars UCAC2) Photometry: 17.26R +/-0.01(USNO A2R Ref stars 162, 174, 180). Measure using R filter.
