Discovered by C. Jacques, C. Colesanti, C. Barreto, E. Pimentel, I. Mussi, J. Ribeiro, M. Domingues, J. Amancio, L. Amaral, P. Holvorcem, T. Napoleao on behalf of the Brazilian Transient Search - BraTS - at SONEAR Observatory, Oliveira, Brazil in three frames with 10 seconds exposure using an astrograph 280mm f/2.2 + CCD unfiltered, with magnitude 14.5 under limiting mag = 17.0. Nothing is visible at this location on the previous frames (limiting mag = 17.1) taken on 2020 Sep 03.1603 UT.

A progenitor candidate is Gaia DR2 6507335805215054464 with position end figures 25.591 s in RA and 50.32" in DE (equinox J2000.0, epoch J2015.5; Gmag. 19.15, BPmag. 19.3, RPmag. 18.5; parallax 2.34 ± 0.33 mas, distance 0.43 ± 0.08 kpc), which is 0.8" NNW of the reported position of the transient. Other designations are DES J224525.57-524650.2 (gmag. 19.4, rmag. 19.3; RR Lyrae variable candidate according to Abbott et al., 2019AJ....158...16S), USNO-A2.0 0300-37751591 (Bmag. 18.5, Rmag. 19.1), USNO-B1.0 0372-1124511, GSC2.3 SAN4005505 (Fmag. 19.4, Bjmag. 19.3), WISE J224525.53-524650.2, 3XMM J224525.5-524649, GALEX J224525.5-524650 (FUVmag. 20.7, NUVmag. 19.8) —— Patrick Schmeer (Saarbrücken-Bischmisheim, Germany)
